Daytime Chic

With summer winding down it's almost time to bring out the earth and jewel toned clothes. Not just yet though! I'm still taking advantage of my favorite summer trends. One of them being the knee length body con dress. This style has been seen on different celebrities all summer long and I was hesitant to try the look at first since I always thought because I was on the petite side the dress would make me look shorter. I was wrong. I found this dress recently at TJ Maxx and the print was the first thing to catch my eye. The print on this dress is fun and the dress overall is very flattering. I love how this dress was reasonably priced and the material was not cheap. I have seen this style of dress before and did not buy it because the material was so cheap and did nothing for my body shape. This dress is structured enough and the material is thick enough where it is still comfortable while at the same time showing off your curves. I paired the dress with simple nude pointy heels to keep the look classy and sophisticated.

                                                                   Outfit Details:
There's no need to put away the summer clothes just yet! After trying out the body con dress trend I'm giving it a thumbs up. I love how pairing it with the perfect neutral heel can make the whole look polished and put together as well as glam and sexy. This dress can easily be worn for a nighttime look with bolder heels. I see myself pairing this dress with orange heels or even yellow ones. Body con dresses are a great investment because they can be worn year round and incorporated with summer and fall pieces including summer hats and trench coats. Splurging on a good quality body con dress is a smart idea for anyone who wants to reuse it for different occasions throughout the year :)

Celebrity Inspired Look-Denim on Denim

Tabloids are my guilty pleasure because I love seeing the paparrazzi pictures and finding inspiration in the outfits I see some celebrities wear. I own several denim pieces and once I saw Kim Kardashian's photo wearing an oversized denim shirt with a distressed denim skirt, I realized I had the same pieces in my wardrobe and could recreate the look for less! The top I am wearing is from a thrift store and is a men's chambray top from Levi's. It is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe because it is oversized, comfortable, and you can dress it up or down. I've worn this top with distressed skinny jeans and heels or leggings and boots. I also love how you can wear it during the summer and the winter. The distressed denim skirt from Forever 21 has quickly become another favorite piece because I can wear it with endless crop tops and a denim pencil skirt looks just the right amount of casual and dressy. This trend has been spotted on Beyonce, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian to name a few. The heels are also thrifted and are from Bakers. I love the gold chain detail and how they make the outfit more elegant. I switched up the heels a bit from the ones Kim is wearing in her paparrazzi photo since I wanted to add a little glam touch to the outfit. Lastly, my sunglasses are from TJ Maxx and were a whopping $4.99! You don't have to break the bank to look like a celebrity. Just be smart about what you're buying, make sure all the items can be worn different ways, and WORK IT! :)

Back to School Beauty Routine!

With summer ending and school starting again on Monday I'm going to have a lot less time to spend on my morning beauty routine. I've been wearing just the necessities for the past couple of weeks and I'm loving it. I'm done with my makeup in less than 10 minutes and I still feel fresh faced and well put together. A little really does go a long way. Aint nobody got time to be spending forever putting on makeup before school! I'm so excited to share the products I've been hooked on lately :)

5 STEPS TO A FLAWLESS FACE IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES:

Step 1: Start off with a clean face. I use Cerave to wash my face and then use rose water as a toner immediately with a cotton round. I apply Trader Joe's Facial Serum as a primer right after.

Step 2: I apply less than a dime sized amount of the Garnier BB Cream to my hand and mix it with a tiny bit of the Heavenly Light Pink Illuminator by Philosophy. I use my ring finger to apply this to my face and use the ELF Cover Everything Concealer under my eyes and on any imperfections.

Step 3: I apply Sally Hansen Natural Beauty blush in the color "Poppy" to the apples of my cheeks.
Step 4: I apply a light pink eyeshadow all over my lid and a copper color on my crease-from my VS Jet Setter Palette. I curl my lashes and apply a few coats of Loreal Telescopic Mascara in Carbon Black.

Step 5: I apply lip balm to my lips, outline them with Tawny lipliner by Jordana Cosmetics and fill in the rest of my lips.

ALL DONE! No powder. No contouring. Just dewy skin, bright eyes, full lips, and a fresh face!

Shop the products!

This routine is so quick and it has been working wonderfully so far. I've gotten several compliments saying my skin looks "glowy" and people thinking the lipliner was my natural lip color! I love having light makeup on because it enhaces your natural beauty. Lighting during the daytime can be harsh and having a ton of makeup on (especially in hot LA weather) isn't a good idea in my opinion. I prefer to apply just what I need during the day and at night apply more product for a more dramatic look for a night out. This is why I always apply my makeup in layers and apply it a little at a time. You can always add more but it's so inconvenient to apply too much at the beginning and have to start all over again. Applying products with a light hand is always the way to go!

I swear by these products and this routine and I hope you incorporate some of them into your beauty routine :)

Sunday Sunflowers: Weekend #OOTD + Effortless Waves

Happy Sunday y'all! I love to dress up at least 6 days out of the week but Sundays are all about being comfy. I recently came across a black dressy tee with yellow sunflowers at TJ Maxx and fell in love. I immediately thought about all the different ways I could style it. I've previously worn this top with a black pencil skirt, a yellow pencil skirt, black skinny jeans, denim shorts, etc. I love tops like this because the material is very flowy and the colors can be styled so many different ways. I paired the top with my favorite boyfriend jeans from Forever 21. What I love about boyfriend jeans is that the denim looks distressed, but it's not too much. I also love how they fit perfectly and aren't too long. For petite girls it is often difficult to find boyfriend jeans that fit well, and Forever 21 has the best ones I've come across. These jeans can also be styled a million ways. I have previously styled them with sequined tops, crop tops, chambray tops, the list never ends! Finally, I found these amazing Shoedazzle shoes at a local thrift shop. I always seem to find the best heels at thrift shops. The key to finding great heels at thrift shops is to look at the quality of the shoes, think of the different pieces they can be paired with, and make sure the price is right!

Casual Weekend #OOTD + Beachy Waves!

Don't you love rediscovering pieces in your closet you forgot you had? I completely forgot about this blue tie dye kimono and after falling in love with it all over again, I decided to pair it with some other summer favorites for a day out in LA! You can never go wrong with a white tank, but this one in particular is different because it is more structured and similar to a corset. I went with distressed boyfriend jeans to give the look a more laidback vibe. I finished it off with neutral wedges with gold details to add height while still keeping the outfit very comfy.
